STF raids a safe house in Thambiluvil [Friday, 13 July 2001]

Special Task Force (STF) troops from Tirukovil Camp raided a LTTE safe house at Thambiluvil and recovered several items including food which were to be taken to the terrorists who had moved into a new location at Kanjikudichiaru jungle.

The items are 35 packets of Lakspray milk powder, 35 tins of 450 grm salmon, 35 tubes large Signal toothpaste, 37 meters of white cloth, 24 Denta tooth brushes, two 450 grms Milo tins, four large boxes EverReady torch batteries, one 450 gram Viva bottle, one can of DS Lanka oil, two Eau de Colonge bottles, 140 Orange drink packets, two Glucose packets, five video tapes, 60 small EverReady batteries, 26 boxes of Mosquito coils, 35 one kilo salt packets, 15 plastic buckets, three plastic basins, one plastic travelling bag, three kilos of condiments, four kilos of garlic and 14 satinwood logs of various sizes.

STF Commandant said that these items were found in a house belonging to the Grama Sevaka of Tirukovil. The Grama Sevaka was not present at the time the STF raided his house.

An operation to nab the terrorists will be launched shortly, the STF Commandant said.
