AROUND 3.00 A.M. A PATROL CONSISTING of Members of The Civil Defence Force confronted a group of LTTE terrorists at THAMBALAGAMUWA, TRINCOMALEE. They confirm that the LTTE fled with heavy casualties.
A search operation was conducted after the incident and they confirm that blood stains left behind by the terrorists indicate that they had sustained heavy casualties. The items given below were recovered from the area.
01 x T 56 Assault Rifle
01 x Micro Pistol
01 x Laptop Computer
04 x Stretchers
A large quantity of Rice, Dhal and dry rations
These frequent confrontations with the Security Forces indicate that the LTTE terrorists are fleeing from the THOPPIGALA area to escape from the final onslaught by the Security Forces.
The LTTE terrorists are left with one of two alternatives. That is either face the continuing attacks or at best, surrender to the Security Forces or the Police.
A search operation is in progress in the area.
