Security forces troops discovered an underground LTTE mini hospital during a search operation in Thoppur on Sunday(01), the Media Centre for the National Security (MCNS) said.
The abandoned hospital was located in the thick jungles of Pullikudiyiruppu in Thoppur during the Army-Police joint search operation, the MCNS said.
Troops also seized two stretches, used mattresses, pillows, a stock of outdated drugs, and a bowser trailer. Meanwhile, the STF recovered an arms cache on a tip-off by a civilian on Sunday in the Annamalai area, Vavuniya (14 colony), a MCNS spokesman said.
They included a T56 assault rifle, two T56 magazines and 48 T56 ammunition. In a subsequent search operation, the STF also recovered 11 anti-personnel mines in the Vavuniya area, which were defused.
