The Civil Defence Force Guard point situated at Awaranthulawa, in the Vavuniya area came under attack by the LTTE at approximately 1.00 a.m. today - Wednesday the 27th of June.
This attack was launched to destroy the Civil Defence force Guard point established to safeguard the area.
Whilst two soldiers of the SL Army and one other Civil Defence Force personnel died in this attack, two personnel from SL Army and the Civil Defence Force respectively, have suffered injuries.
The injured personnel have already been admitted to the General Hospital, Vavuniya.
Meanwhile, cordon and search operations have been launched to further secure the area.
