Is Norway behind recent LTTE attacks on security forces?

Oslo, 01 February, (Asiantribune.com): Ny Tids (Oslo Weekly) exposure of Norwegian funds -- Nkr 25 million up to 2005 -- flowing to the LTTE ( "Norsk million støtte til Tamiltigrene" (26-11-05)) created a sensation in Sri Lanka and India. Sri Lankan websites, newspapers and Indian newspapers and wire services picked it and relayed Eraker’s revelations to a stunned world.

Sri Lankan and Indian political analysts have been questioning the integrity and the honesty of the role played by the Norwegian government. Ny Tid’s revelations prove beyond doubt that Norway cannot play the duplicitous role of arming the LTTE on one hand and pretending to be the peace maker on the other.

Was the recent spate of attacks by the LTTE on soldiers manoeuvred by Norway to get them back into the peace process? Rumours and basic logic points to this being so. I am of the opinion that UD, with his partisan manipulations to favour the LTTE, has given the Norwegians a bad name in Sri Lanka. We remember the coffins of civilians killed by the LTTE being placed either at the doorstep of the Norwegian embassy in Colombo or in front of the offices of the Norwegian peace monitors in the east of Sri Lanka. Did that help the Sri Lankans any?

That LTTE terrorist received Nkr 25 million up to 2005; we took with a pinch of salt. WAPs (World Alliance for Peace) also requested UD for relevant data. But they never received the courtesy of a feed back. So they went on and did the next best thing. They followed the money trail left by the UD to make estimation. Read their report on web pages at http://www.senter.no/money.htm After a thorough investigation they arrived at a disquieting conclusion. That UD actively financed terror in Sri Lanka.

A good authority to comments on the transfer of funds to terrorist by UD is Col. Karuna. The once second in command and the main field commander of the Elam wars, now listed for extermination by his earlier terrorist boss Prabakran.

On ( Asian Tribune 19th November) he demands that: “Norwegian Embassy in Colombo which functions as the paymaster of monies to all the anti-Tamil, anti-Karuna and anti-Mahinda NGO’s should stop channelling secret funds forthwith. “

And declares that "Government of Norway which spent millions of US Dollars to prop-up the candidature of Ranil Wickremasinghe (The Quisling of Sri Lanka) and also keep on pumping millions of dollars on anti - Sri Lankan and anti-Tamil campaigns should be condemned openly, “.

In Asian Tribune 12th October Colonel Karuna is specific as to the amount given to the LTTE: “Norway peace delegation imported the wireless radio equipment and weapons. For this purpose Norway Government provided US Dollar 250,000.”

Yet strangely we hear Mr. Naustdal informing Harald Eraker that Norway was only a fictive recipient of the six tons of electronic equipment. On the other hand we hear Ambassador Vestborg declaring on the phone, (now on tape in the net for anyone to listen) that “Norway will pay for the extra costs”. So the Foreign Ministry should specify who is the liar, Ambassador Vestborg or Colonel Karuna? If Norway has not paid a cent for the purchase and freight of the equipment, so who paid for it?

Again we hear that “Money collected for terrorism activities in Sri Lanka are banked in the monetary institutions in Denmark and Norway alleges Colonel Karuna Amman, in an interview he gave to the London based Thamil Broadcasting Corporation an independent Radio station on 10 of July in the Tamil language. (Asia Tribune 2004-07-14).

And ”The Stavenger Aftenblad” has printed a report by the premier Norwegian wire service NTB that illegal funds had been transferred to Sri Lankan Tamil militants in a car belonging to a Norwegian People’s Aid. The story titled ‘Suspect money smuggling with Norwegian People’s Aid car’ stated that the ownership of the vehicle was admitted by Ivar Christiansen, adviser in Norwegian People’s Aid. It seems that the police found that two representatives for the aid organization TRO had cash equivalent of NOK 1,1 million and various equipment with them. The car was then confiscated. A huge sum in Sri Lankan terms. (Oslo May 11)

Ny tid’s report and all such reports above are valuable for students of Norwegian foreign policy. Using the net they can easily be enlightened as to the reasons for the failure of Norwegian peace making adventures in troubles spots.

No wonder Mr. Morten Hoglund, the foreign Affairs spokes person for the Progress party, has now called for a thorough investigation into the role of Norway in Sri Lanka. The Norwegian people and the war-weary people of Sri Lanka need to know the true facts. This investigation could reveal the destructive role played by UD in undermining its own peace plans by arming the Tamil Tiger terrorists who are blowing Sri Lanka to smithereens. How can Norwegian peace efforts succeed when UD is arming the terrorists who are responsible for tearing up the Ceasefire Agreement drawn up in Oslo under the auspices of the Norwegian government? If the Norwegians were to establish an independent commission to investigate how the Tiger terrorists were financed by UD, using secret funds and subterfuges, their “dream world” will come crumbling down

What it confirm is that there a “Government” within a government” not directed by Norwegian laws. They have their own agenda to follow. And as Nausdal pointed out, that it was difficult even for him to put together such transfers to terrorist, as they have been camouflaged in all sorts of stratagems, that it would take a genius unravel.

Nausdal most revealing comment comes loosely and through a slip. He says: “Norwegian support to Tamil Tigers is in keeping with Norwegian accepted policy”. So now we realise that UD is trying to pass off financing of terrorism on the Norsk folk. We find that all along UD has followed this self declared “policy”. That they been “neutral” facilitators is a farce, and they are nothing but fifth columnist, targeting the destruction of Sri Lanka.

And in keeping with that policy the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced on January 4th that his country would no longer follow the EU lead concerning the designation of terrorist organizations not included in the UN designated terrorist list. Surprise surprise! Indeed its convenient to switch over from EU to UN list exactly now, as the world body can never agree on anything. But what if UN also declares these murderers are terrorist? Will you then unilaterally finance terrorism, as your bureaucrats have white-washed LTTE as decent terrorist?

As for the victims of the Norwegian funding of the Tamil Tigers terrorists, they are the innocent mothers, children and Tamil political dissidents who are targeted daily. Norwegian tax payers’ funds are paid to blow up Tamil political leaders and recruit under-aged Tamil children into the inhuman violence of Tamil Tigers. In fact LTTE is the organisation which assassinated a Prime Minister (Rajiv Ghandi), Presidents, and other leaders appointed democratically.

Indeed the Norwegians are livid that Mullar Krake is not deported for his terrorist past. But when compared with that murderer who is wanted by the International Police, the LTTE terror boss Velupillai Prabakran, Mullar Krake is a pussy cat. That is the man we saw Foreign minister Petterson hugging and kissing in the Sri Lankan bush.

So what all this boils down to is; will Norway be left holding the bag again just like in Palestine!

Time is ripe for UD to inform the Norwegian tax payers that they have had a secret policy Vis a Vis terrorism. That they have categorised two types of terrorist. There are “our friends” the LTTE terrorists, and then there are the real “terrorist” terrorist such as Al Quide ones. If Nosk folk are to support UD’s duel policy on “terrorism”, then at least Norsk folk are entitled to be familiar with who their terrorist partner is, and what are their joint aims and aspirations are? Being a democracy this is not much to ask surely.
