More than one thousand Sinhalese youths are to be recruited as home guards to protect key highways in the north central province. Habarana- Minneriya, Polonnaruwa-Punaani, Polonnaruwa- Alangahavilla, Habarana- Kanthalaai and Kebittigollwa- Padaviya roads, are included in the list of high priority highways to be safeguarded in the first phase of the new security measures taken by Sri Lanka Government, sources said.
Interviews are being held in several Sinhala villages to recruit suitable youths as home guards.
