LTTE fighter killed in Moondumurippu

The Voice of Tigers said in its night broadcast today that the SLA and the army clashed in Moondumurippu last evening, in which a Tiger called Kodai Arasan (Selvarasa Sivarasa of Nedunkerni in Mullaithivu) was killed.

Moondumurippu is a junction on the interior jungle road running west of the A9 - the high way linking the Jaffna peninsula with the rest of the island.

The SLA claims that its troops are close to the strategic junction of Mankulam, approaching it from the west and east.

But Moondumurippu is far to the south west of Mankulam said sources in Vavuniya.

They said that while the operation to take Mankulam is running into stiff opposition, the troops from the forward areas west of kankarayan Kulam are attempting to launch small scale operations to probe and eventually capture the road running west and parallel to the A9 so that the LTTE's lines of supply on this side of the Vanni would be cut off.
