Farmer shot dead outside HSZ bund in Jaffna [TamilNet, September 10, 2004 02:14 GMT]

Mr. Arunasalam Muthiah, 75-year-old farmer and father of five children was shot dead Thursday evening when he was working in his agricultural plot by two unidentified men who came in a motorbike with helmets. The incident took place outside the high security zone bund at Punnaliakattiuwan north in Jaffna district, Police sources said. About four shots were fired at him, according to the Police.

Muthiah's body was handed over to the mortuary of the Chunnakam hospital by midnight by the Police after his relatives identified the body, sources said.

Police commenced investigation into the killing, sources said.
